<< The Club And Coaches <<

Class 4

I started playing badminton at the age of 13 after originally playing tennis. My parents then started taking me to their badminton evenings where badminton started to take over. I then started getting coaching at Orpington Juniors in class 2 and progressed through all the classes. After my run in the classes had come to an end I felt I wanted to start coaching, to give back to the club that has made me the player I am today. So when I was 16 I became qualified as a Level 1 Coach and started helping Kim in Class 3. Then when I turned 18 Paul asked if I wanted to go for the next level up so in December 2008 I qualified as a Level 2 UKCC Coach. Even though my time in the classes was over I continued to compete and took part in the Kent Interregional as a U15, U17, and U19. I also took part in the London Youth games, playing for the Bromley team in 2004, 2005, and 2006, where we took the gold in 05 and 06. Within OJs I currently run the Winter and Summer League team which last year was promoted to Division 3. My time at Orpington Juniors has been greatly enjoyable in the classes as well as other parts of the club. Orpington Juniors is a brilliant place to be due to the dedication of both players and coaches. It is particularly great to see the improvement and enjoyment of the players, an experience that is very rewarding and fulfilling.
